In coordination with the Los Angeles Fire Department, Police Department and Department of Transportation, the Getty Center will be conducting an emergency drill Monday, November 30, at approximately 3 p.m. The emergency drill for the site will take place on a day when the Museum is not open to the public.
After sheltering-in-place, Getty staff will be directed by Emergency Drill Staff to evacuate the site. Vehicles will exit the Getty Center campus using non-public exits including the South Gate onto Church Lane and the Norman Gate onto Norman. Exiting traffic from both gates will be directed towards Sunset. Again, this will happen after three o'clock in the afternoon and the drill is likely to be complete within two hours.
This drill will be conducted to help the Getty and the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments in their coordinated efforts to be prepared and efficient in the event of an emergency that requires evacuation from the site. Both the Police Department and the Department of Transportation will help with traffic control along the exit routes toward Sunset.
