BOBCAT IN BACKYARD: Threatens Family Dog Mid-Afternoon on Sunday

PLEASE SEE BELOW INFO FROM A BEL-AIR NEIGHBOR:

Good Afternoon,

I live near the 800 block of Linda Flora Drive. At around 3:30 on Saturday, our dog began to park in the backyard. In suspicion, I went out side and saw what seemed to be a young bobcat, the size of a house cat -- around 15 pounds. It took him about twenty minutes to leave. I do not want him back because of my dog, and I want to make sure that he stays out of the neighborhood due to the amount of pets we have on the block.

Thank you.

COYOTE MAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT DOG DURING EVENING WALK (near Bellagio & Moraga)

PLEASE SEE BELOW INFO FROM A BEL-AIR NEIGHBOR:

I reported a couple of close encounters with my dog in October. I had one more that resulted in the coyote deciding to maraud somewhere else. I was walking her around 10:30pm on Bellagio about 1/4 mile north of Moraga. The same coyote showed up. He was stalking her again. This time, I had a can of pepper spray with me. When he got close, I tried to spray him with it, but he dodged it instead. I put my dog in the house and went back out after him. I was determined to teach him a lesson. He was still near my house. I repeatedly tried to get close enough to him to nail him, but he was very smart and kept out of range. After several attempts, he finally turned tail and left. I haven't seen him since. It's been almost 2 months.

PLEASE SEE BELOW INFO FROM A BEL-AIR NEIGHBOR:

11/26/10 @10:15 pm : 1300 block of Casiano Road -- just outside the house by the front door a coyote picked up the dog. The owner screamed and the coyote dropped the dog. The coyote went about 20 feet away and just stood in the middle of the street and watched the owner and her dog.

COYOTE SIGHTINGS: Throughout Bel-Air

PLEASE SEE BELOW INFO FROM A BEL-AIR NEIGHBOR:

I’ve seen many coyotes in the last month;

  1. About 3 weeks ago, 10:30a.m. a coyote was trotting down the 2200 block of Stradella and then ducked into someone’s yard.
  2. One morning, 11/11 at 7:30a.m., a coyote dashed in front of our car on Mulholland near Nikada.
  3. Last Friday, 7:30a.m., a coyote dashed in front of our car (with a kill in her mouth), followed by another friend close behind.

I’ve lived here for 20 years and have never seen so many- and so brazen. I just got a new puppy and won’t leave her outside for a second alone.

COYOTE DROPPINGS: Every Morning near the 1000 Block of Moraga Drive

PLEASE SEE BELOW INFO FROM A BEL-AIR NEIGHBOR:

In addition to coyote droppings in their front lawn every morning, this neighbor reports their dog (11/22, 11/24 & 11/27) getting up and growling at their front window at about 2:30am. They suspect it is probably when the coyote is visiting....

The neighbor also notes having a second, small dog and small child and how much they appreciate the monitoring program.

COYOTE SIGHTING: St. Pierre & St. Cloud Intersection - 7:30pm

PLEASE SEE BELOW A NOTE FROM A BEL-AIR NEIGHBOR:

Hello,

As I opened our gate last Thursday evening at 7:30pm, I saw a coyote standing in the driveway (outside gate) staring at me. He was not afraid of the car and did not run when the gate opened. I had to drive forward and get very close to him to make him move to the side and allow my gate to close behind the car. He moved 10-15 feet up the and watched me drive off. He did not seem at all scared by the car or lights. I have heard of coyotes recently on St. Pierre between Bel-Air Road and St. Cloud from workers in the area, but this is the first time I've seen one in St. Cloud in a few years, and certainly in my driveway. I lost my cat, presumably to a coyote, in April by the way.

I just wanted to report this as its getting dark earlier and many people walk their small dogs on my street- we all need to be in by dusk as they are obviously lurking around looking for food.

LA Times Reports - Bel-Air estate that Nicolas Cage lost to foreclosure sells for $10.5 million

Nicolas Cage’s former Bel-Air home, which was lost to foreclosure earlier this year, finally has a new owner, the Multiple Listing Services shows.
The sprawling mansion, which had been listed for sale at one point for $35 million, sold for $10.5 million. A county courthouse steps auction in April had opened at $10.4 million but failed to generate any bids. There were six loans totaling $18 million on the property.
Although there has been speculation among local real estate agents that the 1940 Tudor might be torn down, a real estate source familiar with the deal said the new owner has hired a restoration architect to bring it back to flawless condition. The Gerard Colcord-designed house, on 1 acre, was home to both Dean Martin and Tom Jones.
The Bel-Air manse, at 11,817 square feet, has a central tower, custom wine cellar, 35-seat home theater, six bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a swimming pool. It had been most recently listed for sale at $11.8 million.
Cage, 46, won an Oscar for his role in “Leaving Las Vegas.” Although Forbes puts his 2009 earnings at $40 million, the actor has been plagued with financial and tax problems and lost several homes to foreclosure.
Last year Cage sued his former business manager, Samuel J. Levin. The complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accused Levin of having “lined his pockets with several million dollars in business management fees while leading Cage down a path toward financial ruin.”
Levin filed a countersuit, describing Cage as setting off “on a spending binge of epic proportions” and stating that by July 2008 Cage owned “15 palatial homes around the world,” four yachts, an island in the Bahamas, a private Gulfstream jet and millions of dollars' worth of art and jewelry.
