Coyote grabs Dog by neck: Stradella Road near Stradella Court

Please see below a note from a Bel-Air neighbor:

Saturday morning, near the intersection of Stradella Road & Stradella Court, a Coyote attempted to snatch my dog. It came up my steps in the back-yard and grabbed my dog by the neck. Fortunately, I was out there and was able to make enough noise and scream at the Coyote to release her. She has a puncture wound on her neck, but thankfully I was watching closely. Thank you to my neighbors who have warned me of Coyote activity.

From The Huffington Post: More on Pres. Obama's LA Visit Today

The Huffington Post

President Barack Obama is back in Los Angeles on Monday to attend two Hollywood fundraisers in the Hancock Park neighborhood, and he's landing at LAX just in time to take part in LA's infamous evening commute.
The night's events, at the homes of "Hitch" producer Jim Lassiter and then actors Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas, are expected to rake in $1 million for the President's 2012 run, according to KTLA.
The following morning, President Obama is headed to Burbank to do a taped segment for Jay Leno's "Tonight Show," and is set to take off from LAX before noon.
As usual, neither the President's routes nor hotel accommodations will be disclosed by the Secret Service ahead of time out of concern for his safety, but there have been a few clues thrown out here and there for commuters to consider.
In an interview with KNX on Sunday, Councilman Rosendahl said that four different west-east boulevards are being considered as a possible route for the presidential motorcade: Sunset Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard and Pico Boulevard.
As for north-south routes, major streets between the 405 freeway and Highland Avenue will be temporarily closed as the motorcade rolls through, but Councilman Rosendahl took pains to emphasize to KNX that there will be no prolonged blockades: "over and over there will be no hard closures. After the president clears a certain location, they will immediately open up the streets."
Check out our map of streets that could be impacted by President Obama's motorcade and then check out his full Monday schedule below:
President Barack Obama's Monday, 24 2011 Schedule in Los Angeles

Notice from Senator Fan Pavley: National Prescription Take Back Day

National Prescription Take Back Day

Dear Friends:

On Saturday, October 29th, cities across the nation will be participating in the National Prescription Take Back Day. On that day, the Drug Enforcement Agency will be working with local police departments and other agencies to assist in hosting drug drop-off locations, where people can safely dispose their unused, unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications, including narcotics.

Each day approximately 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time. More than seven million Americans abuse prescription drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends.

But many of us are confused about what do with our unwanted medications. Improper disposal of pharmaceuticals creates a public health concern: persistent disposal of these medications into our waste streams pollutes our water supply and causes harm to humans and animals. Pharmaceuticals, including antibiotics, anticonvulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans.

Working in partnership with cities throughout our area to promote the safe and proper disposal of unwanted and unused pharmaceuticals, I would like to encourage you to turn in your unused or expired medication on National Prescription Take Back Day at locations throughout Senate District 23 on October 29th.
