Starting TONIGHT, at 10:00 pm for 90 Days: Closure of Eastbound Wilshire Northbound On-Ramp
The eastbound Wilshire Bl on-ramp to northbound I-405 will be closed 24 hours a day for 90 days starting at 10:00 pm, Thursday, August 22, 2013.
o Closure is required to facilitate demolition of pre-existing ramp and to complete construction of the new fly-over ramp bridge.
o Detour route is southbound Sepulveda Bl, right to westbound Santa Monica Bl, and right onto the Santa Monica northbound I-405 on-ramp.
o Alternate route is southbound Sepulveda Bl, right onto westbound Pico Bl, right onto northbound Cotner Av, left onto the northbound I-405 Olympic Bl on-ramp.
o Traffic control officers will be deployed to key intersections to assist with the adjustment of traffic patterns. Changeable message signs will be used to help direct drivers to designated detours.
o While the original northbound onramp from eastbound Wilshire had a length of 824 ft, the new on-ramp will have a length of 3,129 ft! That’s a 280% increase in capacity! The ramp is also being built to modern seismic standards.
