Dear Community Members,
The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project Team is pleased to announce the unprecedented 80-hour northbound I-405 lane reduction/closures in the Sepulveda Pass has successfully concluded. As promised, freeway lanes reopened to the public at 5am, Tuesday, February 18, 2014.
Traffic conditions were light and the contractor was able to complete two separate paving operations simultaneously without major complications. The compressed time frame of this operation eliminated several 55-hour weekend freeway closures (and their much greater impacts to the public) from the schedule.
Metro and its partners want to extend their sincere thanks to the public for responding to our call to stay away from the construction zone and enabling us to focus on the work rather than traffic. The success of this operation was contingent upon public cooperation and you came through for us. We look forward to opening the northbound high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane this summer.
We are paving the road to completion!
